    • CIO Sydney now only accepts AEO and POL cases. The third stream of people working or studying one year in Canada no longer exists.
    • The POL list will change every June 26th. The new list has 29 NOC occupations instead of the former 38.
    • All applicants who file in Sydney must include IELTS or TEF even if they are born in countries where French or English are spoken.
    • Previously when filing in Sydney only a form was submitted, but now all documents including IETLS and TEF must be included or the file and fee will be returned.
    • Sydney is now given FINAL DETERMINATION over eligibility.
    • If approved, the full file will be sent by CIO Sydney to the appropriate visa office. The visa office will count the points and if the score is 67 and there is no fraud, will issue medical exams. Thus four months of processing time is saved.
    • An immigration application could be processed in under 6 months, certainly in less than 1 year.
    • As of October 1, 2010, investors will require a net worth of $1,600,000 and will have to invest $800,000 or use a financed option of around $200,000. Processing times for new application will be under 1 year but those filed prior to October 1st will take several years.
    • New laws have been drafted to make it illegal for an immigrant to pay anyone (except for Canadian lawyers or Canadian licensed consultants) to prepare or file an application for immigration, work permit, study permit or visitor visa on his/her behalf. Applicants who break the rule can be barred from Canada for 2 years.
