Services for Employers
The Canadian government believes most future labour force growth in Canada will come from immigrants arriving in Canada. Economic growth, demographics, skill shortages and retirement are all conspiring to drive Canadian employers to seek new labour sources. Previously bureaucreatic procedures were negative or painfully slow. Knowing that it was part of the problem, the government has recently taken steps to make it easier for Canadian employers to bring in the workers they need.
- Employers who need to bring in workers quickly (six months or under) may use the Labour Market Opinion (LMO) program. This is a Work Permit program and involves a job offer. The employer must advertise to ensure no Canadians are available for the job offered.
- Employers who can wait a little longer (six to twelve months) may use the Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO) program. This is a permanent resident program.
